Human Rights of the Elderly and Elder Abuse from the Perspective of the Home Care Workers

Abstract
Due to the increase of the global interests in the human rights of the elderly, our country also performs the long-term care insurance system, according to the duties to follow the instructions of UN and the needs in our society. For the implementation of this system, the core skilled manpower is careworkers. This study investigated careworkers` perception of the human rights of the elderly through a qualitative method. The distinguishing results from this study are as follows: The participants in the study perceived the human rights of the elderly as self-determination, self-esteem. The careworkers` perception of the human rights of the elderly did not completely conform to the existing human rights of the elderly, but it was found what they thought significant was the principle of ``protection`` and ``dignity``, among . Making their own decision means the right of self-determination, and this will guarantee the autonomy of the elderly and is associated with the principle of ``protection``. ``Keeping self-esteem`` is associated with the principle of ``dignity``, that the elderly should be able to live with dignity and safety, without being abused.
